Come join a Laughing Yoga circle!
The basics of Laughter Yoga are simply some laughing (even if you just start by saying the words “Ha Ha Ha”), some breathing (we all do that), and some super easy (and sometimes silly-looking) movements. It can be thought of as a playful exercise routine, adjusted for any level of fitness, which gives wonderful cardiovascular, brain chemistry, social connection and other “feel good” benefits that continually increase and spread more into your everyday life the more you practice it! The current day practice of Laughter Yoga originated in Mumbai, India in 1995, when a cardiologist, Dr. Madan Kataria, invited 5 people to laugh together in the park after having just researched the physical and mental health benefits of laughter. Today, Laughter Yoga clubs or circles are sweeping the world as a Global Movement for Health, Joy and World Peace with over 6,000 laughter groups meeting in 60 countries.
(aka: Denise Winniehaha) received her certification as an official Laughter Yoga Teacher from Dr. Kataria in 2007. She is trained to lead groups and is also authorized to train Laughter Yoga Group Leaders and award them with diplomas from Dr. Kataria’s school, so that they may start their own groups within their communities or within corporate settings. Most importantly, everyone is invited to join a group and even to start their own, regardless of any “official” certification. That’s actually the idea, to inspire as many free community laughing circles as anyone wants. As a certified coach, specializing in career transition and new businesses, as well as in the development of her client’s self awareness and intuition since 1999, and also as a teacher of a simple form of Chi Gong, (or body energy awareness), Denise comes from a very heart-centered appreciation of all individuals. It has been a dream come true to have found yet another way to invite adults to play like kids on a playground, figuratively and literally. And since just watching people laugh can be contagious, Denise encourages everyone to come join the fun and to help spread the laughter!
(For more information on Laughter Yoga International, please visit www.laughteryoga.org. Denise’s website at www.luv2laf.org is currently under construction.)

Writing Our Way to Happiness
Happiness can be found underneath the difficulties of daily life. Writing can get you in touch with what is going on inside and helps you explore your inner wishes and dreams.
Joy can be yours at the touch of a pen on paper.
Following on the work of Natalie Goldberg (Writing Down the Bones) we will use writing prompts to explore our inner voice, letting the words flow unedited from our pen onto the paper. When we allow ourselves to really listen, and write it down, amazing insights happen. And reading aloud allows us to hear our own voice and be heard by others. When we let ourselves flow in this process, joy rises up.
I welcome you to come and play. No experience required. Your can bring a notebook to write in; if not, I’ll have paper and pens ready.
Martha Entin, MA enjoyed teaching and counseling for many years at a Community College in Vancouver , Canada . She regularly goes to India for meditation. She is an active member of several Sedona writing groups and has read poetry at Sedona Arts Center Poets’ Corner, at open mic, and with Sedona Poetry Salon. Martha is an inspired writer and creates a safe space for others to write in.

Fingerstyle Guitar Techniques taught by Rick Cyge
This workshop is open to players of all levels. A basic working knowledge of chords and simple fingerpicking is helpful. The content of the workshop will depend partly on the mix of abilities and interests of participants that attend but may cover simple concepts of arranging melodies for fingerstyle guitar, approaches to accompanying vocals and/or other melodic instruments, exploration of the use of open tunings, basic intro to Travis picking, hammer-ons & pull-offs, and tapping techniques.
Fingerstyle Guitarist and composer, Rick Cyge, recently moved to Sedona with his wife and musical partner, flutist, Lynn Trombetta. Together, they are known as Meadowlark. Meadowlark has been performing and recording together for almost 20 years. Their recordings feature many of Cyge's original compositions written for the duo over the years. Cyge has been playing guitar for almost 50 years (although he doesn't like to admit it!). He cut his teeth as an acoustic guitarist and performer and honed his unique "voice" on the guitar in the dynamic and vibrant Boston music scene where he owned and operated "Wood & Strings Music Center" for most of the 1980s. Wood & Strings was a folk music school, retail shop and concert venue. Although he sold the music center to move to Arizona in the late 80s, to the best of his knowledge, it is still running today. Over his years of performing and teaching, he has developed a unique approach to sharing his ideas and techniques as a melodic fingerstyle guitarist. He regularly employs several open tunings, the most prominent in his arsenal being DADGAD which he proclaims has been his "home" tuning since the early 80s. Some of his many influences include Pierre Bensusan, Michael Hedges, Billy McLaughlin, William Ackerman, Doc Watson, Mississippi John Hurt, Bruce Cockburn and James Taylor. Cyge can be heard regularly in his group, Meadowlark (www.meadowlarkmusic.com), Ally & the Boys (Meadowlark's Celtic alter-ego) and performing his solo set of what he calls "Baby Boomer Classics".
